• New England Modern Quilt Guild Sew-In
Sunday, June 27th 12-5

The New England Modern Quilt Guild is a recently formed group of sewing enthusiasts who share a particular passion for contemporary style fabrics and quilting. The Sew-In on June 27th is free and open to everyone. Even if you are not a member of the NEMQG, please feel free to attend. All you have to bring is yourself and your love for quilting. The Sew-In will simply be an afternoon to spent time chatting, eating, and sewing in our shop's classroom: like a giant, extended Sewing-Lounge!

• Sample Sale
Thursday, July 8th - Sunday, July 11th

Over the years we have accrued quite the collection of finished quilts, bags, and garments. Many of our customers have repeatedly asked to buy our samples and this year we are holding our first-ever sample sale! Many of our finished quilts (from crib to king size) and other projects made from fabrics that are no longer available or from patterns that are discontinued will be on sale at a very reasonable prices. Pick up a quilt for a Christmas present, a bag for yourself, or a garment for your grandchild: it will all be there in our very first sample sale.

•Maine Quilts 2010
Thursday, July 29th - Sunday, August 1st

Once again this year we are participating in Maine Quilts: the Maine State Quilt Show at the Augusta Civic Center. In addition to the hundreds of quilts that will be on display, we will be among the many vendors at the show selling our very best and newest fabrics, books, and goodies. Maine Quilts is said to be the best quilt show east of the Mississippi and is not to be missed: we hope you'll stop by and say hello!

•Midsummer Clearance Sale
Thursday, August 12th - Sunday, August 15th

By now, we think you know the drill! Every year at this time, to make room for all the new fabrics our classroom is converted into a sale room and hundreds of our fabrics will be on sale at just $5 a yard. Along with the fabrics, we will also have half-price books, patterns, kits, pre-cuts, remnants, and more. The goods are all first quality: they've just been around a little too long!

•Midsummer Craft Swap
Friday, August 20th

Hooray for Craft Swaps! The Craft Swap is a highly anticipated event wherein everyone (secretly) makes their most fabulous handmade craft for a Yankee-Swap style evening of fun. Swapping and stealing are highly encouraged and as long as everyone makes their most fabulous best, everyone goes home with something homemade and amazing. The one rules that Craft Swappers have to follow is that you MUST sign up in advance!!!

•Rhea's Wedding Flower Sew-In
Friday, September 10th 5-8:30

As a way to incorporate fabric into her wedding ceremony (not to mention a way to save money!) Rhea will be making fabric flowers for her bouquet and table arrangements and she would like to enlist your help. There's no need for experience with making fabric flowers (they are very easy!) and you don't even need a sewing machine. Alewives will provide the fabric, the instructions, and the pizza... you provide the cheap labor!

• Sushi and Sewing Lounge: Friday nights from 4-8:30

Sewing Lounge is free and open to everyone! It's a time when we all hang out and sew/knit/crochet/talk/shop/eat... A great way to make some new friends and get some crafting done. During this time our classroom space, irons, design walls, etc. are available to use free of charge and an instructor is always here to give advice if problems pop up. Sewing Lounge can get very crowded, and may not be the ideal time to work on a complicated or large project, and Sewing Lounge is NOT a free class or an opportunity for one on one instruction (for that we suggest setting up a private lesson), but Sewing Lounge is meant to be a time for low key sewing and fun. We would love to see you there: especially if you bring us some cupcakes!!!
