midcoast modern quilters

meets the 3rd saturday of each month at 10:30 am downstairs at alewives fabrics.

The next meeting of the Midcoast Modern Quilters will be Saturday, January 16th and we will be making economy blocks and holding a fabric swap of 3" fussy-cut squares! Please bring your sewing machine and general sewing supplies, plus the following: [15] 3" squares that have been fussy-cut (These will be for swapping! You should bring 15 of your squares- of all the same motif, if possible- and we will swap with each other so that you leave with [15] 3" squares that are all different! Please use your best, quilt shop quality fabric and look for motifs that are cute and fit nicely within a 3" cut square. For example, you could bring [15] 3" squares that are fussy cut so they all feature a sweet little dog in the center. You will swap these squares and leave with a dog, a flower, a strawberry, a bird, a tiny house...etc.). You will also need (2) 3" squares and (2) 4" squares per block. These 2 fabrics will be crosscut into 4 triangles each and become the inner and outer triangles of the economy block. Please also bring your rotary cutter, mat and ruler! We will make the blocks a bit larger than necessary and trim them down as we go for accuracy!

Midcoast Modern Quilters is a fun, friendly group of quilters who like to get together and enjoy each others company. Even if you've never joined a group or quild before, we encourage you to attend one of our meetings: all skill levels and types of quilters are welcome to attend! The only requirement is that you MUST love quilting! There is a $5 fee for all who attend, payable at the meeting.
